Far too many people think that once they finish creating a website, the hard work is over. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The website creation portion of your internet marketing business was the easy part and the hard work is about to begin.


People have been mislead by the recent rash of push-button software packages that making money online is easy. With the click of the mouse, you will not be making millions overnight. If you truly want to be a successful online marketer, you must be willing to put in a lot of work.

A website without traffic is completely useless. It does not matter how awesome the site looks or interacts with its visitors. If you do not have any traffic, you have only wasted time, energy and money.


You must do various methods and techniques to drive quality traffic to your website. There are both free and paid methods for generating traffic and I recommend you try both.

In my internet marketing business, I like to use paid methods to test conversions before I spend a lot of time trying to boost my search engines rankings. There is no point in having a sales page at the number one spot in Google but it does not convert into sales.


When I use paid methods, I can not only test how well my sales page converts but also how profitable a particular keywords may be.


Many new internet marketers are too scared to try paid methods simply because they believe they cannot afford it. Honestly, the price depends on the niche and keywords you have selected. If you have selected high competition keywords, you will end up spending more money per click than you would for a keyword that has less competition.


1. PPC or pay per click Advertising



PPC or pay per click advertising can be extremely expensive and should only be used by experienced professionals. I recommend you start out with PPV or pay per view traffic. This type of traffic is cheaper; however, it also does not convert that well.


The thing I like about PPV traffic is the fact that it is cheap and you can really test out your niche selection. Keep in mind that PPV traffic should not to be used as your sole source of traffic since it does not convert very well.


2. Search Engine Optimization




In regards to free traffic, your best method is search engine optimization. This is where you optimize your site to be favored by search engines like Google or Yahoo. The better your site is optimized, both on page and off, the higher your site will appear in the search engine

This comes back to your keyword selection. If you have chosen a highly competitive keyword, then your chances of reaching the first page of Google or Yahoo are not that likely.
